Dr. Eli Collins-Brown
Dr. Eli Collins-Brown joined the MDE faculty in the fall of 2010 and teaches OMDE 603 - Technology in Distance Education and E-learning, DETC 630 - Synchronous and Asynchronous Learning Systems in Distance Education and E-learning, and OMDE 670 - Portfolio and Project in Distance Education and E-learning. She also teaches IMAT639 - Internet Multimedia Applications.
Eli has been designing online courses for over 12 years, helping faculty from various disciplines put their courses online and learn how to teach online. She also has been teaching online for 8 years and loves it! In her full-time position as Dean of Educational Technology and Faculty Development at Methodist College of Nursing, Peoria, IL, she has overseen the design, development and implementation of the fully online RNBSN degree and is currently helping numerous faculty redesign their face-to-face courses for the hybrid/blended environment. She feels that she is able to share many of her experiences in design and development with the MDE students to bring their content to life.
Eli enjoys working with the UMUC students in the MDE program, from early in their program in OMDE 603, where they are exploring various technologies used in online learning, to the Capstone course - OMDE 670, where they bring all of the knowledge and experience from the program together in a scholarly project and e-portfolio. It is refreshing to share their educational journey and to hear about their future plans that will be realized upon completion of the program.
