Anne Forster
Anne Forster joined the faculty of the MDE in 2003 with OMDE622 the Business of DE and E-learning course. Based in Sydney, Australia, Anne has also assisted with OMDE 608, Learner Support in DE and Training and with OMDE608 DE Systems and E-learning.
Anne has over thirty years experience in academic and executive roles in open, online and campus based learning in Australia and internationally. Anne is experienced in enterprise wide management with a background spanning all sectors, multiple disciplines and communities. She is a specialist in the development and management of education and training that leverages technology, pedagogy and innovative design for learner choice of alternative pathways to achieve quality learning outcomes.
Anne has held a number of positions in Universities and private companies in Australia, Canada and the UK, leading change initiatives and supporting academic professional development over periods of rapid growth and technology disruption. She is the Director of an international e-learning consulting firm, Forster & Gibson Pty Ltd, http://www.forgib.com, that offers a wide range of services to higher education, government and corporations in learning design, strategy, change management and business development. The company was established in Canada where Anne lived for ten years and is now based in Sydney, Australia. F&G has consulted in the Asia Pacific region, UAE, South Africa, India, Europe, Canada and the USA.
Anne’s recent positions have included Director of the Innovation and Technology in Education Ventures Unit at the University of Sydney, Vice President of Global Learning Services for NextEd Ltd, Deputy Director of the Centre for Executive Education at Bond University, and foundation provost in the start up of the UWS outreach campus in regional NSW.
Anne has taken a leadership role in several award winning and entrepreneurial programs including: the AGSM Executive MBA at UNSW, the Inuit Management Training Program (Canada), the Global University Alliance (NextEd Ltd), the Master in DE (Univ. of South Australia/Deakin University) and the Professional Certificate in DE (Wisconsin).
Anne Forster has published numerous articles, several monographs, and book chapters, and presented keynote and invited talks around the world. Her most recent presentations in India in early 2014 addressed alternative perspectives in the globalization of Higher Education in the digital era. Anne is a member of the editorial boards of the Journal of Distance Education, The Journal of Learning for Development (JL4D) and the Canadian Journal of Learning and Technology. Anne values her professional association with organizations committed to scalable, affordable and effective solutions to meet the challenges in developing countries such as the Commonwealth of Learning, the ICDE, EDEN and the USDLA. She is a former president of the Open and Distance Learning Association of Australia. Anne holds honorary adjunct appointments as Associate Professor in Australia with the University of Wollongong and the University of New England.
